City Beneath a pale blue sky stands a city all of gold, With gates as clear as crystal glass and a single radiant star. In that city is a garden, with blossoms everywhere And beasts of greater beauty than any seen before. One beast is like a lion with fiery mane, Another, like a calf, and full of eyes within; Beside them, the celestial golden eagle, Whose gaze lives in the memory for eternity. And in that pale blue sky there burns a single star. That star is yours, my angel; it is yours forevermore. He that loveth, is beloved; he that giveth light is blessed, So follow ye the star that guides the way to Paradise. A lion with fiery mane will greet you there, And a blue calf, all full of eyes within; Beside them, the celestial golden eagle, Whose gaze lives in the memory for eternity. (Translation by K. H. Translation Notes

I just love the imagery from Revelation in this song. The animals in the garden are three of the four creatures that stand before the throne of God (one with the head of an eagle, one with the head of a lion, one with the head of a calf). But where in this song is the fourth creature -- the one "with the head of a man"? I think that the fourth creature is supposed to be the person who follows the road to the city and arrives in that garden. (It could be you and me.) What do you think of this interpretation?

А в городе том сад, все травы да цветы;

Другое - вол, исполненный очей;

А в небе голубом горит одна звезда;
Кто любит, тот любим, кто светел, тот и свят;

И синий вол, исполненный очей;
