There's something not quite right with the world – or is it only me? Maybe just some dust kicked up from the grass, or some sunspots I can't see … Happiness sheds no warmth anymore, as if a glass wall holds it back. Sometimes I feel like there's a heavy fate hanging over my head. I went to a gypsy and asked her what I should do Whether it's dangerous to think so much – and mainly about you. She just tossed her cards to the floor, covered her eyes and said, "My dear boy, you've got a heavy fate hanging over your head." Nothing makes sense anymore. Love's led me down a shadowy path. And the higher you scale the Astral Plane, the more nonsense you're gonna get I longed for eternal summer; but I got wintertime instead Is it is fate, or just the laws of a nature hanging over my head? One person says in six days the world's gonna be gone Another gets depressed about everything they see A third only offers love to those who'll do them wrong But all of them will kill anyone who dares disturb their melancholy... Yesterday I found an angel standing in the cold outside I'd already ceased to be who he was after, and he'd changed too since he arrived; So I said, "Come in, sit down, I'm not your enemy. Enjoy the quietness – And let's raise a drink to that poor stiff who's stuck hanging over my head." You know I live from platform to platform; having flown I can't stop and retire And if things get a little easier for you, then there's nothing more I desire So I give thanks for the wind in my sails, and the wings behind my back One of them is you; and the other is the friend who hangs over your head.
For better or for worse, this one goes out to Dzhon ... A couple weeks back he noted that the mix of "Black Moon" was much better than the mix of "Lilith" -- a subtle distinction I'd never noticed. So I dug out my rarely played copy of "Black Moon" and Dzhon was right; an entirely different engineer, and entirely different (and better) sound. I was always more fond of "Lilith" than many of the Bodhisattvas, so don't take it from me ... but esp. in the "Black Moon" version, it's one hell of an album, and this is one of the best songs of the bunch. It probably deserves a better translation, but at least this is a start.
